Walking & Cycling
If you enjoy walking, both the long distance Offa’s Dyke and the Wye Valley Walk are accessible from Robin’s Barn without the need of a car! The Three Castles walk and the Monnow Valley Walk are also close to this unspoilt area.
There are a wealth of walking books and leaflets provided in the cottage, ranging from strenuous to easy. For the energetic, there are cycleways with route maps being provided. There is an 11 mile family cycle trail in the nearby Forest of Dean and a 32 mile circular ride for the more experienced.

Castles & Abbeys
There are many sites of historical interest to be explored. The numerous castles built to defend the English-Welsh border. Abbeys of which the most famous is Tintern Abbey, immortalised by the poet William Wordsworth, is just 5 miles away.
The Usk Valley, Brecon Beacons, The Black Mountains and Forest of Dean are all within easy reach, as is Symonds Yat, featured in the film Shadowlands. It is also famous for its resident peregrine falcons and stunning views over the River Wye.

Canoeing & Trekking
As the River Wye is close by, there are all sorts of pursuits involving the river, such as canoeing, kayaking and fishing.
You may prefer to go pony trekking in the Black Mountains. The ‘Go Ape’ High Wire Forest Adventure provides good entertainment for children in the nearby Forest of Dean.
